We raise money so children's hospitals can say yes
American Giving Society is a nonprofit fundraising organization. We collect gifts from individuals, workplaces, and businesses, and distribute them as grants to pediatric hospitals and family-support programs.
Mission
What we exist to do
Pediatric hospitals operate at a structural loss. Children's care takes longer, requires specialized staff and equipment, and is reimbursed at lower rates than adult care. The gap is filled by philanthropy — and that is the gap we work in.
We do not run hospitals and we do not direct clinical care. We fund the things administrators tell us they cannot get through a budget cycle: a replacement infusion pump, an interpreter on the night shift, a week of lodging for a family two hundred miles from home.
How we work
Four commitments
We fund, we don't operate
Grants go to hospitals and their affiliated foundations. Clinical decisions stay with clinicians.
Local gifts, local impact
Where a donor designates a partner hospital, the gift is restricted to that hospital.
Published numbers only
We publish figures that appear in our audited statements. No estimates presented as results.
Consent before storytelling
Family stories and photographs are published only with written permission from a guardian.
Scope
An honest description of our size
American Giving Society is an independent organization. We are not affiliated with, and do not oversee, any other charity or hospital system. Partner hospitals are listed by name on our Hospital Partners page, and each relationship is governed by a written grant agreement.
